Oh and as far as the difficulty goes, i remember reading in one of the readmes or somewhere else that the difficulty setting doesn’t have much effect in this mod. A lot of people like when the game doesn’t hold their hand.

You always will need to be careful where you go if it is beyond your strength, but there is no hard limit saying you can’t go here yet or similar. The game does open up after you leave that area, but you still can’t run to the ANCIENT EVIL EMPIRE OF DOOM!!! (made up) and conquer them as a level one because of some fancy scaling. I don’t think the guards will even let you leave yet. If you’re still in the section where you haven’t even went to the monastery, you’re still at the very start of the game. It keeps rewarding my further time investments with great world building and new things to see and do, it has a sort of Baldur’s gate 2 feeling that I never properly got from the vanilla Bethesda games, which I suspect is a result of everything being hand crafted.īethesda should definitely look into hiring some of these Germans to work on their future games. I reckon anyone who has Oblivion should definitely download this immediately if they enjoy any kind of exploratory gaming.

Anyway, the hill giants become too tough for me to defeat in any number with just my weedy level two spells and lots of running away so I fled back to the main quest which immediately sent me headed into the mover overgrown south lands full of lizardy type foes whose hearts I harvested for my own dark purposes. Really is quite something seeing monsters that large up close in the Oblivion engine. Eventually, I reached a path heading up into the mountain peaks where I was surprised by some truly massive hill giants. I passed through burned out villages, guarded siege engines and some Middlerealm soldiers being ambushed by some guerilla Northmen fighters. Still really enjoying this, I recently went on some free wheeling exploration far to the north. Sigh…ĭid you try disabling the auto-caching and auto saving every 10 minutes in the diary settings? This greatly reduced the amount of crashing for me, particularly the type where the whole game would appear to freeze. My problem is that I finally got to the Abby, and now every time I try to open a door, the game crashes. You’ll see the characteristic hand icon there and when you “activate” that it’ll fix the machine. Just go up on the machine and look at the gears.
